About

Pattison’s Team Xtreme, with its home rink located at Pattisons’s West Skating Center in Federal Way, WA, is an inline speed skating team that is a force in the US racing scene.

Mike Pattison started coaching in Spokane, WA in 1964.  When he moved to Federal Way he continued to coach and started Pattison’s Speed Club.  The team quickly became #1 in the Pacific Northwest in 1984 and has won the Northwest Regional Championship High Point Trophy almost every year since.  In 2010, 2012, and 2015, Pattison’s team was #1 in the country competing against 80 other teams.  Mike has produced National Champions and National Records for the past 30 years.  Mike’s son Darin took over in 2013 and is the team’s current coach.

The team ranges in age from 5 all the way up to over 55 years of age and they compete in races all over the country.  The team skates three to four times a week, September through July.  In 2012 our skaters traveled to Virginia, Florida, Nebraska, Colorado, California, and many cities around Washington.

Apolo Anton Ohno, who has the record for having the most medals in the Winter Olympics, and JR Celski, also an Olympic medalist and is current World Record holder in three events both skated and trained for 10 years at Pattison’s West. If your are interested in the sport of Speed Skating, please come and check out the beginners speed class on Sunday.  Apolo and JR both started their skating careers in our very own class!
