Dear coaches and parents,
I would like to thank you all for your support at the 2017 Battle In Seattle competition. Without the help of everyone this would not be possible. The competition was great and athletes showed outstanding sportsmanship throughout the weekend. We had over 260 skaters from 12 states and 25 different teams! Thank you to the coaches for your continued support.
The weekend was capped off with phenomenal racing in the Grand Champion events. Congratulations to Zach Stoppelmoor and Kelsey Helman for taking the Pro Grand Champion division and $1,000 cash each. Gabe Lyons and Paige Dawson each took $100 in the JR Grand Champion Division, and PJ Muxlow and Tom Ritchie each took home $100 in the SR Grand Champion race. These champions also took home a custom Battle In Seattle uniform that came out amazing, thanks to Josh Wood at a Vie 13 Kustom Apparel.
There is a lot of work behind the scenes that goes into getting this event running; we most definitely could not do this alone. A special thank you to Loeb Soldan for helping with everything technical this weekend, as well as putting together the NorthWest SpeedSkating Region website SpeedSkatingNW.com and PattisonsTeamXtreme.com. You can find event results on these pages as well as more information about this year’s and next year’s Battle in Seattle. Next year, the prizes are looking to be even better. We are adding roundtrip airfare to anywhere Southwest Airlines flies in North America for our Pro Grand Champion race, along with Skinsuits and Ca$h prizes!
More thanks to Jeremy Howard, Todd Herman, Paul Stoddard, and Tammy Murray for their work in the middle making sure the competition went smoothly. To Cathy Ream and Tara Wedlund for their hard work in the check in area. Of course, Robin Pfander for all her efforts putting together the meet and the results. Our officials Brandon Hardaway, Josh Jozwiak, Mike Wong, and Kim Cason. Shaun Pattison, our meet director and all of our staff at Pattisons West.
